Speaker Troubleshooting
No Sound Coming From Speakers
Problem: Connected speakers but no audio.
Solutions:
- Check physical connection (plug is fully in)
- Verify speaker is powered on (power light on)
- Increase physical volume knob on speaker to 80%
- Check Windows volume (bottom-right speaker icon)
- Check Jyv volume (Devices → speaker volume)
- Try another app (YouTube, system sounds)
- Restart Jyv Desktop
Audio Very Quiet
Problem: Sound is barely audible.
Solutions:
- Increase physical speaker volume first
- Increase Windows volume to 100%
- Check if app has its own volume control (turn up)
- Some USB speakers need driver update
- Try different speaker cable or USB port
Distorted or Crackling Sound
Problem: Audio is distorted or has crackling/popping.
Solutions:
- Lower volume (distortion often means clipping)
- Check speaker cable connections (tight)
- Try different USB port (especially for USB speakers)
- Update audio drivers
- Disable effects in Jyv temporarily to isolate problem
- Restart Windows
Wrong Speaker Playing Audio
Problem: Audio goes to wrong speaker (e.g., monitor instead of headphones).
Solutions:
- Jyv Devices → Set correct speaker as default
- Or use per-app device routing
- Check Windows Settings → Sound → Default device
- If multiple devices listed, try unplugging unwanted ones
