3. Chrome Extension (JYV Audio Processor)
The JYV Audio Processor Chrome extension provides real-time audio processing directly in your browser. This section explains what permissions the extension requests and how your data is handled.
Permissions & Why We Need Them
- Tabs permission: Used to detect which browser tabs have active audio or video content so the extension can apply DSP processing to the correct tab.
- Host permissions (all URLs): The extension injects a content script to hook into audio and video elements on any webpage. This is required to route audio through the Web Audio API processing pipeline.
- Storage (chrome.storage.local): Stores your DSP settings only — equalizer configuration, compression parameters, and volume levels. No personal data is ever stored.
How Audio Processing Works
All audio processing is performed entirely within your browser using the Web Audio API. Audio data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any server. The extension operates fully offline once installed.
What the Extension Does NOT Do
- Send audio or any data to external servers
- Track your browsing activity or history
- Collect analytics or usage telemetry
- Make any external network requests
- Store personal or identifying information
