- ✓ Fast profile switching during live streaming
- ✓ Toggling noise suppression during video calls
- ✗ Security-sensitive environments (use local hotkeys instead)
Potential Issues with Global Hotkeys
- Antivirus May Block: Some antivirus thinks global input capture is malware
- Conflicts with Apps: Other apps may also want the same hotkeys
- Performance: Minimal impact, but can be disabled if needed
If you have issues: Disable global hotkeys and use app-level hotkeys instead.

Best Practices
Use Consistent Modifiers
Keep hotkey patterns consistent for easy memorization:
- Good: Ctrl+Alt+G, Ctrl+Alt+W, Ctrl+Alt+S (consistent pattern)
- Bad: Ctrl+G, Shift+W, Windows+S (inconsistent, hard to remember)
Use Mnemonics
Choose letters that remind you of the action:
- G for Gaming
- W for Work
- S for Streaming
- N for Noise Suppression toggle
Avoid Common Conflicts
- ✗ Ctrl+C (copy), Ctrl+V (paste), Ctrl+X (cut) - Windows standards
- ✗ Alt+Tab (switch windows), Windows+D (show desktop)
- ✗ Windows+V (clipboard), Windows+E (file explorer)
- ✓ Use less common combinations like Ctrl+Shift+Alt+letter
Document Your Hotkeys
Keep a reference of your custom hotkeys:
- Write them on a sticky note near your desk
- Create a text file on your desktop
- Take a screenshot of the Hotkeys settings page
Resolving Conflicts
Conflict Warnings
Jyv Desktop shows warnings if your hotkey conflicts with system hotkeys:
- ⚠ Yellow Warning: Conflicts with other apps (may not work reliably)
- 🚫 Red Error: Windows system hotkey (definitely won't work)
Fixing Conflicts
If you see a conflict warning:
Choose Different Keys
Replace the conflicting hotkey with a different combination that doesn't appear in warning list
Check Other Apps
If conflict is with another app (e.g., Discord), you have options:
- Change the hotkey in the other app
- Use different hotkey in Jyv Desktop
- Or disable one of the conflicting hotkeys
Test with Global Hotkeys Disabled
If global hotkeys cause issues:
- Settings → Advanced → Global Hotkeys → OFF
- Hotkey will only work when Jyv window is in focus
- Usually more reliable and fewer conflicts
Common Conflicts
| Hotkey | Conflicts With | Solution |
|---|---|---|
Windows+V | Clipboard history | Use Ctrl+Alt+V |
Shift+Alt+Tab | Alt+Tab (windows switch) | Use Ctrl+Shift+Tab |
Ctrl+Shift+V | Discord hotkey | Use Ctrl+Alt+Shift+V |
