Setup & Configuration

  1. Configure Meeting Applications

    For each video conferencing app, set your audio devices:

    • Microphone: Select "Jyv Desktop Virtual Microphone"
    • Speakers: Your preferred output device
    • Disable Built-in Noise Suppression: Turn off the app's noise reduction
    • Disable Echo Cancellation: Turn off (Jyv handles this better)
    Disable the app's noise suppression to avoid double-processing your audio, which can make your voice sound unnatural.
  2. Enable Meeting Detection

    In Jyv Desktop, go to Settings → Integrations → Meetings.

    Enable these options:

    • Auto-detect meetings
    • Activate meeting profile automatically
    • Integrate with calendar (optional but recommended)
    • Mute notifications during meetings
  3. Create a Meeting Profile

    Create a dedicated profile for professional meetings:

    Professional Meeting Profile
    {
      "name": "Professional Meetings",
      "microphone": {
        "noiseSuppression": "maximum",
        "voiceEnhancement": "professional",
        "echoCancellation": true,
        "gain": 1.4
      },
      "appVolumes": {
        "zoom.exe": 0.85,
        "Teams.exe": 0.85,
        "chrome.exe": 0.3,
        "slack.exe": 0.2,
        "spotify.exe": 0.1
      },
      "automation": {
        "trigger": "meeting_active",
        "muteNotifications": true,
        "duckingEnabled": true
      }
    }
  4. Test Your Setup

    Before your first important meeting:

    1. Start a test meeting or use your platform's audio test feature
    2. Verify Jyv Desktop Virtual Microphone is selected
    3. Speak normally and check audio levels
    4. Test with background noise (typing, music) to verify suppression
    5. Verify echo cancellation if using speakers

Calendar Integration

  "calendarIntegration": {
    "enabled": true,
    "sources": ["Google Calendar", "Outlook"],
    "rules": [
      {
        "keywords": ["client", "executive", "presentation"],
        "profile": "Executive Calls",
        "activateBefore": 300  // 5 minutes before
      },
      {
        "keywords": ["standup", "team sync"],
        "profile": "Team Standup",
        "activateBefore": 60
      },
      {
        "keywords": ["interview"],
        "profile": "Interview",
        "activateBefore": 600  // 10 minutes before
      }
    ]
  }
}

Jyv Desktop scans your calendar and automatically activates the appropriate profile based on meeting titles, attendees, or custom keywords.

App-Based Detection

Automatically detect when meeting applications are in use:

Meeting App Detection

      "restoreOnExit": true
    },
    "Teams.exe": {
      "trigger": "app_in_call",
      "profile": "Professional Meetings",
      "muteOtherApps": true
    },
    "chrome.exe": {
      "urlPatterns": [
        "*://meet.google.com/*",
        "*://teams.microsoft.com/*"
      ],
      "profile": "Professional Meetings"
    }
  }
}

Troubleshooting

Meeting App Can't Find Jyv Microphone

Solution:

  1. Verify Virtual Device

    Open Jyv Desktop → Settings → Audio → Virtual Devices

    Ensure "Jyv Desktop Virtual Microphone" is enabled.

  2. Restart the Meeting App

    Completely close the meeting application (including background processes) and restart it.

  3. Check System Audio Settings

    Open Windows Sound Settings and verify Jyv Desktop Virtual Microphone appears and is not disabled.

  4. Browser Permissions (Web Apps)

    For Google Meet, Teams web, etc., ensure your browser has microphone permissions granted.

Voice Sounds Robotic or Unnatural

Cause: Double processing (meeting app + Jyv both doing noise suppression)

Solution:

  • In your meeting app, disable noise suppression/echo cancellation
  • In Jyv Desktop, reduce suppression level to 70-80%
  • Switch voice enhancement from "Professional" to "Natural"
  • Ensure only ONE application is processing your audio

Echo or Feedback During Calls

Solution:

  • Enable Echo Cancellation in your Jyv Desktop meeting profile
  • Reduce meeting app volume (may be too loud and picked up by mic)
  • Use headphones if echo persists (most reliable solution)
  • Move your microphone further from speakers
  • Check for multiple meeting apps running simultaneously

Participants Say They Can't Hear Me

Solution:

  • Check that Jyv Desktop Virtual Microphone is selected in your meeting app
  • Verify you're not muted in both the meeting app AND Jyv Desktop
  • Check microphone gain in Jyv Desktop (increase if too quiet)
  • Test your mic in Jyv Desktop's audio settings first
  • Restart the meeting application

Automatic Profile Switching Not Working

Solution:

  • Verify meeting detection is enabled in Settings → Integrations → Meetings
  • For desktop apps: ensure the app is on the auto-detection list
  • For web apps: enable calendar integration for automatic detection
  • Check that the correct profile is assigned to the trigger
  • Review Jyv Desktop logs for detection events
