Installation Guide
Download and install Jyv Desktop on Windows, macOS, or ChromeOS in under 2 minutes.
System Requirements
Before installing Jyv Desktop, ensure your system meets the following requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- Windows: Windows 10 (64-bit) or later
- macOS: macOS 11 Big Sur or later (Intel & Apple Silicon)
- ChromeOS: ChromeOS 100 or later
- RAM: 4GB minimum, 8GB recommended
- Storage: 200MB available disk space
For AI features like noise suppression, an NVIDIA RTX GPU is recommended but not required.
Windows Installation
Download the installer
Visit the download page and click Download for Windows.

Double-click
JyvDesktop-Setup.exeand follow the setup wizard.You may see a Windows Defender SmartScreen warning. Click More info → Run anyway. This is normal for new applications.
Grant permissions
During installation, you'll be asked to grant audio driver permissions. Click Yes to install the Jyv Virtual Audio Driver.
Launch Jyv Desktop
After installation completes, Jyv Desktop will launch automatically. You'll see the welcome screen to create your first profile.
macOS Installation
Download the installer
Visit the download page and select your Mac type:
- Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) - Recommended for newer Macs
- Intel Mac - For Macs from 2020 and earlier
Not sure which one you have? Click the Apple menu → About This Mac. If you see "Chip: Apple M1" (or M2/M3/M4), choose Apple Silicon.
Install the application
Open the downloaded
.dmgfile and drag Jyv Desktop to your Applications folder.Grant permissions
On first launch, macOS will ask for several permissions. These are required for Jyv Desktop to function:
- Accessibility: Required for global hotkeys and app detection
- Microphone: Required for noise suppression and voice enhancement
- Screen Recording: Optional - enables meeting detection
If you skip these, you can grant them later in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Install audio driver
Jyv Desktop will prompt you to install the virtual audio driver. Click Install Driver and enter your Mac password when prompted.
After installation, you may need to restart your Mac for the driver to activate.
Apple Silicon Performance
Optimized for Apple Silicon: Jyv Desktop runs natively on M1/M2/M3/M4 chips with exceptional performance and battery efficiency. AI features run up to 3x faster than on Intel Macs.
ChromeOS Installation
Install Jyv Desktop from the Chrome Web Store as a Progressive Web App (PWA):
Open Chrome Web Store
Navigate to the Chrome Web Store and search for "Jyv Desktop".
Install the PWA
Click Add to Chrome → Install.
The app will be added to your ChromeOS app launcher.
Launch from app drawer
Find Jyv Desktop in your ChromeOS app launcher and click to open.
Grant microphone access
When prompted, click Allow to grant microphone access for AI features.
ChromeOS Limitations: ChromeOS support is in beta. Virtual audio devices and some advanced routing features may have limited functionality compared to Windows/macOS.
Verify Installation
To confirm Jyv Desktop is installed correctly:
Check the application launches
- Windows: Search for "Jyv Desktop" in the Start menu
- macOS: Find Jyv Desktop in Applications or use Spotlight (⌘ + Space)
- ChromeOS: Look for Jyv Desktop in your app launcher
Check version (Command Line)
& "C:\Program Files\Jyv Desktop\jyv.exe" --version/Applications/Jyv\ Desktop.app/Contents/MacOS/jyv --versionIf you see a version number (e.g., Jyv Desktop v2.4.0), installation was successful!
Check virtual audio devices
Windows: Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray → Open Sound settings. You should see "Jyv Virtual Speakers" and "Jyv Virtual Microphone" in the device lists.
macOS: Open System Settings → Sound. You should see "Jyv Virtual Audio" in both Output and Input tabs.
Troubleshooting
Installation fails on Windows
If installation fails with an error:
- Ensure you have administrator privileges
- Temporarily disable antivirus software (some security tools block driver installations)
- Download the installer again - the file may be corrupted
- Check you have at least 200MB of free disk space
macOS says "app is damaged"
This is a Gatekeeper security warning. To fix it, open Terminal and run:
xattr -cr "/Applications/Jyv Desktop.app"Then try launching Jyv Desktop again.
Virtual audio driver not detected
If the virtual audio devices don't appear:
- Windows: Restart the Windows Audio service or reboot your computer
- macOS: Restart your Mac to activate the audio driver
- Reinstall Jyv Desktop and ensure you grant driver installation permissions
