Initial Setup

  1. Launch Jyv Desktop

Open Jyv Desktop from your applications menu. On first launch, you'll see a welcome screen.

  2. Complete onboarding

Follow the brief onboarding tutorial that introduces key concepts:

    • Audio Profiles - Save and switch between audio configurations
    • Per-App Control - Manage volume for each application independently
    • AI Features - Enhance your microphone with noise suppression
  3. Set default audio devices (Optional)

For maximum control, set Jyv's virtual devices as your system defaults:

    • Windows: Settings → System → Sound → Output/Input devices
    • macOS: System Settings → Sound → Output/Input tabs

This step is optional but recommended for full per-app routing capabilities.

Create Your First Profile

Audio profiles let you save and recall audio configurations instantly. Perfect for switching between work, gaming, and entertainment.

  1. Open the Profiles tab

Click Profiles in the left sidebar of Jyv Desktop.

  2. Create a new profile

Click + New Profile and give it a descriptive name like "Work Calls" or "Gaming".

  3. Configure settings

Set your preferences for this profile:

    • Noise Suppression: Toggle ON and set level (60% is a good starting point)
    • Voice Enhancement: Enable for professional-sounding audio
    • App Volumes: We'll configure these next
  4. Save the profile

Click Save Profile. Your new profile appears in the profiles list.

Pro tip: Create profiles for different scenarios: "Work", "Gaming", "Music Production", "Streaming".

Per-App Volume Control

One of Jyv's most powerful features - control the volume of each application independently.

  1. Go to App Volumes

Click App Volumes in the left sidebar.

You'll see a list of all audio-playing applications currently running on your system.

  2. Adjust individual volumes

Use the sliders to set volume levels for each app:

    Example Setup
    Spotify: 80% (background music)
    Discord: 100% (important voice chat)
    Chrome: 40% (YouTube while working)
    Slack: 60% (notifications)
  3. Route apps to different outputs (Advanced)

Click the Output Device dropdown next to any app to route it to a specific speaker or headphones.

Example: Send Discord to your headset while game audio goes to speakers.

  4. Save to your profile

These volume settings are automatically saved to your active profile. Switch profiles to recall different volume configurations instantly.

Hotkeys: Set up global hotkeys in Settings → Hotkeys to adjust app volumes without opening Jyv Desktop.

Enable AI Features

Jyv's AI-powered features transform your audio quality. Here's how to activate them:

AI Noise Suppression

  1. Navigate to Microphone settings

Go to Settings → Audio → Microphone.

  2. Enable noise suppression

Toggle AI Noise Suppression to ON.

    Adjust the suppression level slider:

    • Low (30%): Subtle reduction for quiet environments
    • Medium (60%): Recommended for most use cases
    • High (90%): Aggressive removal for noisy spaces
  3. Test your microphone

Click Test Mic to hear the before/after difference. Adjust the level until your voice sounds clear and natural.

Voice Enhancement

Make your voice sound broadcast-quality:

  • In the same Microphone settings, enable Voice Enhancement
  • This adds subtle EQ and compression to make your voice clearer
  • Particularly useful for podcasting, streaming, and professional calls

GPU Acceleration: If you have an NVIDIA RTX GPU, enable GPU acceleration in Settings → Performance for zero-latency AI processing.

Set Up Automation

Make Jyv Desktop automatically switch profiles based on what you're doing.

  1. Choose a profile to automate

Go to Profiles, select your "Work Calls" profile, and click Edit.

  2. Add automation triggers

Scroll to the Automation section and click + Add Trigger.

    Choose a trigger type:

    • App launches: Activate when Zoom, Teams, or Discord opens
    • Calendar event: Auto-switch during scheduled meetings
    • Time of day: Switch to "Focus" profile during work hours
  3. Configure the trigger

Example - Activate "Work Calls" when Zoom opens:

    Trigger: When app "Zoom" launches
Action: Switch to "Work Calls" profile
Additional: Enable noise suppression at 80%
  4. Save automation

Click Save. Now Jyv Desktop will automatically optimize your audio when you join a Zoom call!

Set it and forget it: Once configured, Jyv works in the background, automatically adjusting audio as you switch between tasks.
